Every Bit Counts

August 27, 2017

Holy God, I pray for the thousands of heroes today who helped those affected by hurricane Harvey. I give thanks for the acts of kindness, of neighbors helping neighbors, strangers lending hands, first responders working tirelessly, nurses and others looking out not only for themselves but for those in their care. We will never know all the acts of bravery and valor, compassion and benevolence. But You see and know and honor every act of good will.
In the coming days, let the circle of solidarity expand, such that each and every one of us finds some way to assist those in the path of the storm.
And God, please stop the rain. Weather is natural; climate change is our own damn fault. Tip the scales in our favor anyway, out of Your own mercy. Scatter the clouds, please Jesus. Amen.
