BLM and Memory
Eternal God, I lift up the BLM protestors in St. Louis who continue to resist state-sanctioned violence against black and brown bodies. Bless them with Your palpable presence, with strength, with comfort, and with healing. And God, bless the rest of us with better memories. Every day brings a new story into the center of public life. Some are vital, some are trivial. Either way they quickly fade from view as the cameras focus on the next story. Protect us from the "attention economy" that trades our concentration for cash. Guard us from our own eagerness for distraction. Remind us that the central story of existence is of love, holy and human, and help us take our places in that eternal tale. Amen.
